M remembered the following IELTS test questions after a recent exam in Sri Lanka:

Section 1. A student discussed some books and their content with a teacher.

Section 2. About a group tour in the jungle.

Section 3, 4. Don’t remember.

Reading test

Passage 1. About the airport and immigration rules in Australia.
Questions: True/False/Not Given.

Passage 2. About different old buildings and their use.
Questions: filling in blanks.

Passage 3. About employee strikes in companies.
Questions: filling in blanks.

Passage 4. A research about laugh.
Questions: filling in blanks, match headings to paragraphs, match scientists to their findings.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

City council is planning to pull down one of the historic buildings in your town, because they do not have funds to renovate it. As a citizen, you don’t want it to happen. Write a letter to the city council and say

– What is the importance of the building?
– Why should it be renovated?
– Suggest a plan to raise funds and maintain the building in the future.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Some believe that modern technology has made people less socially active, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
