IELTS test in Sri Lanka and Pakistan – July 2011 (General Training)

The IELTS exams in Sri Lanka and Pakistan seem to be the same, according to our friends who remembered and shared the following topics and questions:

Listening test

Section 1. A conversation between a parent and a music teacher about music lessons.

Section 2. Two students were talking about their presentation on alternative and renewable sources of energy.

Section 3. A lecture of archaeologist about findings in New Zealand.

Section 4. Basic Information for the new staff about a Museum built inside an old mine.

Reading test

Don’t remember.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You need to read a book that cannot be found in the book shops in your area. Write a letter to a bookshop in another city asking for the book. In your letter

– describe the book,

– explain why you need the book,

– and how you would pay for it.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Today many people tend to move to another country or a different region of same country after their retirement. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of such move.
