IELTS test in the UK, we are told by G, was similar to the exam in Brazil posted yesterday (the writing section was identical). Our thanks goes to G and here is what she remembered:
Listening test
Section 1. A woman called to inquire about house insurance.
Questions: Filling in the gaps (no more than three words), the questions were about the woman’s postal address, e-mail address, type and area of the house, additional items to be covered, annual cost.
Section 2. An explanation of requirements for an abroad job application.
Questions: Multiple choice/filling in the gaps.
Section 3. A woman and a man were talking about results of a research she has done abroad.
Questions: multiple choice.
Section 4. A talk about the results of a change in the way IT support is provided to university tutors.
Questions: Filling in the gaps (mo more than one word).
Reading test
Passage 1. Pictographs and different types of knots used for communication in the 1800’s.
Questions: True/False/Not Given and filling in the gaps.
Passage 2. About Japanese pottery.
Questions: matching headings and filling in the gaps.
Passage 3. Non verbal communication, people’s reactions to communicating without speaking.
Questions: Yes/No/Not Given and filling in the gaps.
Writing test
Writing Task 1 (a report)
There was a table giving statistics about Australian and Malaysian population (birth rate, % aged 65 or over, male, female, total population) in 1984 and 2002.
Writing Task 2 (an essay)
Many people think that too much money is wasted on investment in technical equipment for space exploration and would be beneficial if invested elsewhere, do you agree or disagree with this statement?
