Thanks to the kind heart of BE from Kazakhstan, today we are sharing the writing questions from his recent IELTS exam:
Writing test
Writing task 1 (a report)
The chart below describes the sources of electricity produced in four countries between 2003 and 2008.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
* Note: these aren’t the actual charts given in the test, they were recreated for the purpose of demonstration.
Writing task 2 (an essay)
Some people think that the government should be responsible for funding healthcare and education of the country, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Regarding Writing Task #2, I am slightly confused with the question prompt.
“Some people think that the government should be responsible for funding healthcare and education of the country, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion.”
The governments have always been funding healthcare and education. It is what they do. I am confused with why “they should do it” if they are already doing it. I find it hard to think of the reasons why some people would not want the government to fund education and healthcare.
Any thoughts?
Hi Maya, education and healthcare aren’t universally funded by the government, in many countries they are privately funded or there is a mixture of public/private funding. This gives legitimacy to the question of whether or not education and healthcare should be the government’s responsibility.
