The Report
This report will look at the expectations of young people in five areas of life in the next 20 years in Europe and draw conclusions about the improvement or worsening of life conditions in the next 20 years and its consequences for young people. The graph above shows the opinion of young people about the improvement or deterioration of their life conditions in five areas of communication between people, quality of water, quality of food, quality of air in the cities and health in the next 20 years, and helps us have a better and habitable future.
It is clear from the data that majority of the respondents did not have a hope in hell of the future in which they’ll live. For example, less than 50 percent of the respondents have voted for the improvement of quality of water, quality of food, quality of air in the cities and health in the future. However, most of them thought the communication between people will improve. And that means they still have hope for a better future, albeit very little. From the results of the survey, it can be concluded that in the future, young people will communicate better than now; they will express their feelings more easily; they will make eye contact more easily; their verbal and also nonverbal communication will improve; their society will become more united and more friendly, and etc. However, such a future will never be created without improving speaking and communication skills.
The second area of life with the highest expectations for improvement, is quality of food. Since the percentage of people who voted for the improvement of quality of food in the future is very little different from the percentage of people who voted for its deterioration, it can be concluded that in the near future, we will see an improvement in the quality and hygiene of foods in the restaurants, hotels, and cafes. On the other hand, it is expected that the reason why the percentage of people who voted for food quality improvement is lower, is that the respondents voted based on the currently available evidence. Because nowadays we see many restaurants being closed due to lack of food hygiene.
Despite the fact that health is the third area of life with the highest expectations for improvement, from the graph, it can be concluded that in the future young people will not pay enough attention to heath care. As we can see now that young people spend most of their time browsing online and playing games, and this causes problems in their physical health, including back, neck and eye problems. This also causes young people to not have enough time to do important things in life and suffer from mental problems such as depression in the future.
For water quality, as the fourth area of life with the highest expectations for improvement in the future, it can be concluded that, contrary to the significant development of technology that we will see in the future, according to the responds, water quality will not improve enough. Perhaps the opinion of the respondents is that with the advancement of technology, electronic waste will also increase. And with the increase of electronic waste, the world will be faced with the problem of recycling electronic waste, and in order to reduce this problem, governments have no choice but to dump this waste in the seas and forests. On the other hand, in the future, with the significant reduction of fresh water, people will be forced to use salty water, and because it is very difficult to purify this kind of water, it is likely that we will face the problem of lack of water quality in the future.
Unfortunately, results of the survey about the improvement of quality of air in the cities, is not far from expected. Because with the growth of technology in the last decades, we’ve been facing the problem of air pollution in many of big cities. Furthermore, the majority of young people voted for the deterioration of quality of air in the next 20 years. However, in my book, the problem of air pollution will be solved in the near future with recent innovations like Kaalnik, which can be fitted onto generators and fuel tanks to capture air pollution and convert it to usable ink. Or the smog-free tower, a revolving vertical structure in public places, which sucks in smog and converts it into breathable air using ionization technology.
Even though, we need to pay more attention to the air pollution, lack of fresh water, and health problems in the next decades.
Hi Sobhan, first of all, well done being able to write so much and in such great detail! This is more of an article than an IELTS report as it analyses people’s behaviour, expectations, etc. If this is meant to be an IELTS writing task 1, I’m afraid it isn’t following the guidelines. In an IELTS report you should write about 150 words and stick to describing the chart without speculating about the data.
