Thanks to our generous subscriber SA from Australia, today we are sharing the writing questions from her recent IELTS exam.

Preparation Tip: make sure to write your own essay and report under timed conditions, spending no more than an hour in total on both Writing Task 1 and Task 2. Simulating real exam conditions will surface your weaknesses in writing, and you will be able to work on them well before the test. Happy studying!

The two charts below show the percentages of films released and tickets sold by genre, in 1996 and 2000, in a European country.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people think that households should be given permission to keep a gun in the house, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
