IELTS test in Singapore and UAE – January 2015 (General Training)

The IELTS questions below were shared by two test takers from the UAE and Singapore (thank you, F and S!). Unfortunately they didn’t remember the Reading or the Listening topics.

Writing testIELTS test in Singapore

Writing task 1 (a letter)

Write a complaint letter to the manager of the airport about a problem with something you have encountered that is important to get fixed. In your letter
– Provide details of your flight
– Explain about the problem that you had
– Suggest a solution

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Some say that music is as important as other subjects in schools, especially at the preschool level. Do you agree or disagree? Give your opinion.

Speaking test 1

Interview

– What is your full name?
– Can I see your ID?
– Where are you from?
– Do you work or study?
– What is your job description?
– What exactly do you do?
– Do you like it?
– Why did you choose this industry?
– Will you stay at this job for a long time? Why?

Cue Card

Talk about a person who impressed you with his/her beauty. Please say

– How do you know him/her?
– Why do you think he/she is so beautiful?

Discussion

– Are clothes important for showing personality?

Speaking test 2

Interview

– Do you like to live in the city or in the countryside? Why?

IELTS test in the UAE and Iran – January 2015 (Academic Module)

IELTS test takers from the UAE and Iran (thank you, A and S!) shared the following information about a recent exam which apparently was the same in these two countries.

Listening testIELTS test in the UAE

Section 1. A friend was giving advice to another friend who planned to visit Arizona in the USA.

Section 2. About a Ski centre in a mountain area and its facilities available to tourists.

Section 3. A discussion between students about the history of the Pacific region and Moire language.

Passage 1. About sustainable development allowing to keep people safe from harm and risks associated with cooking in the kitchen.

Passage 2. About migration of birds.

Passage 3. The psychology behind a coffee-drinking habit.

We were given a diagram showing the process of paper recycling in a factory.

Some schools agree that fast food restaurants and supermarkets can promote their products in school and that schools benefit from it. Is it a positive or a negative development?
