IELTS Writing Test – General Training

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You received a letter from a retired couple you know, informing you about their intention to visit your city. Write a letter to them. In your letter

– Suggest what they can do in your city
– Recommend a place where they could stay
– Advise them on what to pack for their trip to your city.

Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Robert and Mary,

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Scientists believe that computers will become more intelligent than humans in the future. Some people think this as a positive development, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
