IELTS test in India – June 2022 (General Training)

Our friend S.S. took the IELTS test in India a couple of days ago and remembered the following questions:

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You have an upcoming meeting with your manager to discuss your performance in the past year. Write a letter to the manager. In your letter,

– Describe your achievements in the past year
– Say what areas/skills you need to improve on
– Suggest a plan to improve those skills/areas.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Many shopping malls have been built in different countries all over the world. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this for the local people?

Speaking test

Part 1 (Interview)

– What is your full name?
– Can I see your identification?
– Do you work or study?
– Where do you live, in an apartment or a house?
– Where do you spend most of the time in your house? Why?
– Do you play different outdoor games?
– What game would you like to play in the future?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Talk about a time when you were very busy. Please say

– when it was
– what you had to do
– how you managed your schedule
and explain how you felt about being that busy.

Part 3 (Discussion)

– Do you think children should be taught more in a classroom than outdoors?
– What are the advantages for kids of having outdoor activities in school?

Part 1 (Interview)

– What is your full name?
– Can I see your ID?
– Where are you from?
– Do you work or study?
– What do you do?
– Do you like your job? Why?
– Where do you live now?
– What are some important features of your hometown?
– Can you describe your home?
– What are your daily responsibilities?
– Do you like watching football on TV?
– Do you like watching it alone or with friends?
– What other sports do you like watching on TV?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Talk about something in your home that was broken and then repaired. Please say

– what it was
– when it happened
– why it was broken
– and explain how it was repaired.

Part 3 (Discussion)

– Did someone help you repair it?
– Does it still work?
– Why do people neglect things and don’t repair them?
– Do you think that in the past product quality was higher? Why?
– Do you think that expensive products last longer? Why?
