IELTS Speaking questions from Sudan and Poland – May 2010

IELTS in Sudan, as we are told by a kind test taker D, was just like this exam in Egypt. Another friend J from Poland also said their IELTS was the same. Here are the Speaking questions that D and J were asked:

Speaking test from Sudan

Interview

– Tell my your full name, please.
– Tell my what you like living in your hometown.
– What do you think needs to be done in your home city to make it better?
– How much free time do you have?
– What do you do in your spare time?

Cue card

Tell me about a tool in your home (not a computer) and say:
– what it is,
– where you got it from,
– what you do with it,
– and why it is special to you.

Discussion

– Let’s talk about modern tools in general.
– Do you think they are difficult to be used by elderly people? Why?
– How can we help the elderly to handle modern tools or devices easily?
– What is the benefit of using modern tools at home?

Speaking test from Poland

Interview

– Tell me about your hometown.
– What food did you like when you were a child?
– What would you recommend to your children to eat?
– Is taking a child to a restaurant good or not?

IELTS test in Egypt – May 2010 (Academic Module)

IELTS exam in Egypt was shared by L who remembered quite a bit. Our thanks goes to L and here is the update:

Listening test

Section 1. A conversation about a climbing course.
Questions: about the purpose of the course, when it is held, how long, and the cost.

Section 2. A conversation about a desert trip.
Questions: Multiple choice questions about what’s exciting, what are the benefits, what we should take with us.

Section 3. A conversation about a scientific psychological report on how blind people perceive shapes of objects using their imagination.
Questions: multiple choice questions, filling in the gaps of a summary.

Section 4. A report about solar energy.
Questions: filling in the gaps and a diagram that needed to be labeled.

Reading test

Passage 1. About mimicking of nature qualities by the social organisms present in the world.
Questions: matching headings to paragraphs.

Passage 2. About the extinct Australian tiger.
Questions: filling in the gaps, matching headings to paragraphs.

Passage 3. About supermarkets and the psychology of advertising.
Questions: matching headings to paragraphs, filling in the gaps.

Writing Test

Writing Task 1 (a report)
A table that compared the percentages of male and female workers in some country in 1986, 1996 and 2006.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)
What is your opinion about a success of a team: does it depend on mental attitude of the whole team or on the strongest individuals?
