– What is your favorite color?

– Tell me about the food you used to eat when you were a child?
– What kind of food do you prefer to eat now?
– Do you still eat the same kind of food you used to eat when you were a child?
– What kind of food are you going to offer to your child to eat?

Discussion

– Tell me about a hobby you had when you were a child.
– Do you have the same hobby now?
– Why did you give it up?
– Tell me about a kind of hobby that you think is going to help you when you grow older.

IELTS test in Latvia and Albania – June 2010 (General Training)

IELTS exams in Latvia and Albania were the same, as I learned from L and A (thank you!), and here is what they collectively remembered:

Listening test

Section 1. Conversation about summer accommodation.

Questions: filling in the gaps in a table (advantages/price/room), filling in the gaps in a summary about activities offered.

Section 2. History and some basic details about curling.

Questions: filling in the gaps and multiple choice.

Section 3. A dialogue about a research into how music influences eating pattens in restaurants.

Questions: Multiple choice, select the correct statement from 5, and then there were questions about the results of the research – match music types to statements.

Section 4. A lecture about salt.

Questions: filling in the gaps mainly.

Reading test

Passage 1. Seven or eight pieces of sports clubs’ advertisement.
Questions: match statements to the appropriate advertisements.

Passage 2. Company creation checklist.
Questions: filling in the gaps.

Passage 3. About a chain of hostels.
Questions: True/False/Not Given.

Passage 4. Instructions for company car usage.
Questions: filling in the gaps.

Passage 5. The history of glass.
Questions: match statements to paragraphs, match nations (German / Egyptians/Venetians) to statements.

Writing test

Writing Task 1 (a letter)

Write to the owner of the bag you’ve found. In your letter tell him
– where you have found it,
– what it contains,
– how to contact you to get it back.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Some people think that modern inventions have brought more problems that benefits. Do you agree or disagree? Explain.

Speaking test

Interview
– What is your name?
– Do you work or study?
– What is your work title?
– Describe your first day at work.
– Is first day at work important?
– Do you know your neighbors?
– Is it important to know them?
– How can they help you?

Cue card
Talk about a family (not your own) you like to spent time with, please say:
– Who they are,
– How you met them,
– Why you like to spend time with them.

Follow up question: is it important to spend time with your family regularly?

Discussion
– We spend more time with friends than with family these days. Is this a good or a bad thing?
