IELTS Writing Test – General Training

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You have noticed some students from your college engaging in a dangerous activity outside the college grounds. Write a letter to the principal of your college.

In your letter:

– Explain what the students were doing
– Describe why this activity is dangerous
– Suggest what the college can do to address the situation.

Write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Nowadays, many people in cities live in large apartment blocks. Does this kind of accommodation have more advantages or disadvantages?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

and explain how you felt when you saw the wild animal.

Part 3 (Discussion)

– Would you recommend the place you mentioned to a friend? Why?
– Is it easy to find wildlife in your country?
– Do you think zoos are important for educating children about animals?
– Should parents take their children to the zoo? Why or why not?
– What are the benefits of zoos for animals?
