IELTS test in Canada – April 2021 (Academic Module)

Our lovely friend K.K. shared the questions from a recent IELTS exam in Canada:

Listening test

Part 1. A father was making a job appointment for his son on a phone call.

Part 2. A person was talking about walking with a group of members.
Questions: multiple choice.

Part 3. Two students were talking about a presentation related to their project.
Questions: multiple choice.

Part 4. A lecture about history.
Questions: fill in the blanks.

Reading test

Passage 1. A text on excavation.
Passage 2. About some researches related to brain function improvement by doing managerial jobs.
Passage 3. A text about gardening.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given a table that provided information about population living in four different types of houses (flats/apartments, detached, semi-detached and terraced) in the three areas of a city in the UK.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Many people argue that due to widespread internet accessibility, libraries are not necessary anymore. Do you agree or disagree?

Speaking test

Part 1 (Interview)

– What is your full name?
– Can I see your ID?
– Where are you from?
– Do you work or study?
– What do you like about your work?
– Let’s talk about the New Year’s celebrations.
– How do you celebrate the New Year?
– Do you still remember a New Year that you celebrated some time ago?
– Do you have any ceremonies to celebrate the New Year in your country?
– What kind of food do you eat when you celebrate the New Year?
– Where and when did you last celebrate the New Year?

Part 2 (Cue Card)

Talk about a famous person you are interested in. You should say

– Who this person is.
– How you came to know about him/her.
– Why he/she became famous.
– What you learnt from him/her.

Part 3 (Discussion)

– Why are people following celebrities?
– What do you think about their right to privacy?
– Why is the media always interested in them?
– Why do people have the desire to be like them?
