IELTS Speaking questions from India – December 2024
Our student SA recently took the IELTS test in India. This is what she was asked in the Speaking test:
Speaking test
Part 1 (Interview)
– Where is your hometown?
– Is the history of your hometown taught in schools?
– Do you enjoy learning about history? Why or why not?
– Have you ever tried drawing or painting?
– Do you think learning to draw or paint is important? Why?
– Have you ever visited an art gallery?
– What do you think about the role of art galleries in preserving culture?
– Would you like to visit more art galleries in the future?
Part 2 (Cue Card)
Describe a rule at school or work that you dislike. You should say:
– what the rule is
– why this rule exists
– why you dislike it
and explain whether you think this rule will change in the future.
Part 3 (Discussion)
– Why are rules important in schools and workplaces?
– Do you think some rules can be unnecessary? Why?
– How should rules be communicated to ensure they are followed?
– What can be done if people disagree with a rule?
– Should students or employees have a say in creating rules? Why or why not?
– How have rules in schools or workplaces changed over time?
