IELTS test in UK and UAE – February 2011 (Academic Module)

Reading test

Passage 1. A text about potatoes and other crops in Mexico.

Passage 2. About turbines in Europe and UK that can harness energy from tidal waves and currents.

Passage 3. Causes of ancient civilizations becoming extinct and how they could survive.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

A bar chart showing the number of people working and the hours they worked. There was a chart showing the number of leave days and how it increased according to the number of years worked between 1999 and 2004.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Quality of life in big cities is worsening. What do you think the reasons are? What can you suggest as a solution?

Speaking test 1

Interview

– Tell me your name, please.
– Where do you live?
– Is it a big city?
– Do you think it is interesting to visit?

– How do you feel about collecting things?

Talk about someone you have helped. Please say:
