IELTS test in India – March 2014 (General Training)

Our kind friend N took the IELTS test in India and shared the following questions (he only remembered the Writing and Speaking modules):

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

One of your co-workers is leaving the company. Write a letter to the manager who asked you to organize his/her farewell party and say

– Where will the event take place?
– Suggest a suitable time.
– Describe what food you would serve and what entertainment arrangements you would make.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Some people like to travel alone, while others think it is better to go together with someone. Discuss both views and include your opinion.

Speaking test

Interview

– What is your full name?
– Can I see your ID?
– Where are you from?
– Do you work or study?
– Do you like walking?
– Do you prefer to walk in the city or countryside? Why?

Cue Card

Describe a subject that you did not like in high/secondary school. Please say

– What was the subject?
– Who was your teacher?
– Why didn’t you like the subject?

Discussion

– Was this subject difficult for you?
– Did other students find this subject difficult?
– How should teachers help students?
– Should schools make certain subjects compulsory for all students?
– What kind of subjects and why?
